Florida Urban League Affiliates Launch Statewide Listening Tour to Drive Positive Change
Fort Lauderdale, FL –October 21, 2024 – The Florida Consortium of Urban League Affiliates is excited to announce the launch of its statewide “Power of We” Listening Tour, a series of focus groups aimed at gathering valuable insights from residents on to improve their quality of life. Urban League of Broward County invites residents to participate in this important initiative on October 23, 2024 from 6 pm – 8 pm, at the Community Empowerment Center located at 560 NW 27th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. By sharing their perspectives, community members can play a vital role in shaping the future of Florida.
This initiative seeks to create a more inclusive and prosperous state by directly engaging with communities and understanding their unique needs and challenges. By collecting resident feedback, Urban League affiliates will be better equipped to develop targeted programs, services, and advocacy efforts that address the specific priorities of marginalized populations.
Key Components of the Listening Tour:
- Community-Centered Focus Groups: Participants will be divided into smaller groups led by facilitators.
- Open Dialogue: Facilitators will guide discussions, encouraging participants to share their experiences, concerns, and ideas for improving quality of life.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Detailed notes will be taken by scribes, analyzed and shared with elected officials and stakeholders
- Policy Advocacy: The insights gathered from these sessions will inform the Affiliates’ advocacy efforts, advocating for public policies that address identified challenges and support equitable distribution of state resources.
